Dip in pool the sauce of green hair day

pool A MUM-OF-TWO had her hair turned green by a swimming pool - and claims staff offered her a sauce solution.

Sharon Ellis, 35, was delighted when she received a free day pass to use the sauna, steam room and swimming pool at LA Fitness in the Copthorne Hotel.

But Mrs Ellis, who works at Gatwick Airport, said: "I wasn't exactly pleased to come out with green bits in my hair.

"They said that I was the second person that it had happened to."

Mrs Ellis, from East Grinstead, also claims the fitness centre told her to put tomato sauce on her hair if she wanted to return to being a blonde.

She said: "I asked them what I could do about it and they told me to just put ketchup on my hair a few times.

"It was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard."

Mrs Ellis claims her hairdresser later told her that "four or five" others had seen their blonde hair go green at the same pool.

She has now seen her blonde colour return after several shampoo sessions.

Elaine Murray, of LA Fitness, told the News she has some sympathy with Mrs Ellis. She said: "I'm a woman and I feel for her. We're giving her a free haircut to make up for it.

"We did a routine pool test and the pool had a slight chemical imbalance which we immediately rectified.

Elegant day spa expansion underway in Linden
24 January 2008 | 8:05

day_spa Jessica Eastman has big plans for Serendipity Day Spa in downtown Linden.

The spa was relocated to a space just feet away from the old spot and Eastman has been busy meeting with architects and visiting spas across the country to assist with turning her vision into reality. Plans are to expand her business from approximately 1,000 square feet to 6,000 square feet.

The Planning Commission approved Eastman's plans at its October meeting. Since the property is located within the historic district of the city, City Manager Christopher Wren said the plans were also reviewed and approved by the Historic Commission.

Once the renovations are complete, she expects to have a staff of between 35 to 40 people, up from the dozen she employs today.

Eastman is transforming Serendipity Day Spa into an elegant, full service spa, including hair styling, manicures, pedicures, massages, waxing and facials. Also being added to the premises is Sterling's Wine Cellar, a bistro and full liquor bar, for its on-site clients, as well as an extensive line of wines and beer, which can be purchased and consumed later.
